This Pentax fit (often found in M42) lens is incredibly good value for this technique, offering a shallower DoF per FoV than a 50mm f/0.95 for 1/10th the price. Of course the focal length requires a lot more images to stitch, about 6-8 times more (perhaps too many on a crop sensor). On the flip side it gives less distortion, a much higher resolution and weighs less (even with the adaptor).

 

I'm not sure you could find much better value than this. Although this one looks good on the outside it does have some fungus. The PK mount version can be used on Pentax DSLRs, or adapted to Canon DSLRs as well as most mirrorless ILCs.
